From Street Food to Great Taste: Casadei Foods Wins Two Awards

We have some very exciting news to share.

Both our Plant Based Mozzarella and Plant Based Stracciatella have been recognised at the Great Taste Awards 2026.

Our Stracciatella received a prestigious two star award, while our Mozzarella earned a one star award. For a small family business like ours, seeing both products recognised by one of the world’s most respected food awards is an incredibly proud moment.

Judged on taste alone

Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, Great Taste is known for its rigorous blind judging process. The judges do not see the branding, packaging or marketing behind a product. They assess what is in front of them purely on its taste, texture and quality.

That is what makes this recognition so meaningful to us.

We have always believed that plant based Italian food should be judged alongside the traditional products that inspired it, without compromise or qualification. These awards are another important step towards proving that it can be every bit as delicious.

Award winning Plant Based Mozzarella

Our Plant Based Mozzarella was created for pizza chefs. It needed to melt properly, stretch beautifully and perform consistently in a busy professional kitchen.

The Great Taste judges described it as having a bouncy texture in its raw form and praised the way it became stringy and stretchy when melted, calling it a great vegan alternative.

We are especially proud to be the only vegan mozzarella producer in the UK to receive a Great Taste Award in 2026.

For a product that began as a solution to a problem in our own pizza kitchen, this recognition feels particularly special.

Two stars for our Plant Based Stracciatella

Our Plant Based Stracciatella received an incredible two star award, making it the highest rated Stracciatella in the UK in the 2026 awards, vegan or otherwise.

The judges described the taste as magnificent, with perfect seasoning, a creamy texture, a lovely mouthfeel and a moreish finish.

Stracciatella is a product rooted in Italian tradition, so creating a completely plant based version that can stand proudly alongside its dairy counterpart has always been important to us.

Receiving two stars tells us that the product is not simply a good vegan alternative. It is an exceptional product in its own right.

From a street food kitchen to an award winning producer

Our journey began in 2018 with Death By Pizza at Netil Market.

Unable to find a plant based mozzarella that performed the way we needed it to, Carla began developing her own. What started as an ingredient for our pizzas continued to evolve through our street food businesses and restaurants.

Eventually, that product became the foundation of Casadei Foods.

Today, we produce restaurant quality plant based Italian ingredients in London for chefs, restaurants and home cooks across the UK. Reaching this point has involved years of experimentation, learning, resilience and an unwavering belief that plant based food should never mean compromising on flavour.

Becoming Great Taste Award winners once felt like a distant dream. Now it is part of our story.
